Foundation and Early Innovation
Our initial focus was developing comprehensive solutions to connect lending and higher educational institutions more effectively. The development of ELMNet, our pioneering product, established a new standard for loan processing efficiency and marked the beginning of utilizing technology and innovation as a core tradition.
Strategic Adaptation: 2008 and Beyond
The 2008 financial crisis ushered in an era of profound change in educational lending. This transformation accelerated in 2010 with the Obama administration's Healthcare and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA), which marked the transition from the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) to Direct Lending. Throughout this pivotal period, we stood steadfast with our school partners, redirecting our expertise toward developing sophisticated solutions for the alternative lending arm.
Digital Evolution
This necessary pivot propelled us into our technological evolution as a core driver of our service enhancements.
First, with the creation of ELMSelect, our comprehensive private loan comparison site, in 2013. Recognizing the growing complexity of educational financing options, we developed this sophisticated platform to empower students and families with the knowledge to make informed lending decisions.
Secondly, ELMOne, our flagship cloud-based platform, was launched in 2015. This sophisticated solution streamlines the entire private student loan lifecycle—from certification to disbursement—through an intuitive, centralized, cloud-based interface.
